Chargers Shoot for a Trip to NEAC Final

The Lancaster Bible men's and women's basketball teams are hosting the North Eastern Athletic Conference Final Four this weekend as both teams look to earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament. The Lancaster Bible men's basketball team will kick things off on Saturday afternoon as the Chargers host SUNY Polytechnic at 1 p.m. The second NEAC Men's Semifinal will begin at 3 p.m. and match Morrisville State against Gallaudet. The Lancaster Bible women's basketball team hosts Morrisville State at 6 p.m. and that game will be followed by the second semifinal, featuring SUNY Polytechnic and Gallaudet.

Men's Basketball Preview
SUNY Polytechnic (14-12, 12-5 NEAC) at Lancaster Bible (25-0, 18-0 NEAC), 1 p.m.

Lancaster Bible, ranked 15th in the most recent D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, faces the second-seed from the NEAC North Division, SUNY Polytechnic, in the first NEAC Semifinal. The Wildcats advanced to the NEAC Semifinals thanks to their 71-49 victory over Wells on Tuesday night. SUNY Polytechnic is led by junior Quayshaun Mitchell who averages 17.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He also leads the team in blocks with 16, but had just 11 points in the first meeting this season between the two teams on Feb. 12. In that Feb. 12 game, freshman Peyton Griffiths had a team-high 22 points for the Wildcats, while Terrynce Wilson was the only other SUNY Polytechnic player in double figures with 10 points. 

Lancaster Bible is led by back-to-back NEAC Player of the Year CJ Dunston who has averaged 17.1 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game this season. Junior Bryce Williams leads both the team and the NEAC in points per game at 19.9, while senior Dondre Perry averages 12.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest. Junior Kurt Keltner is the fourth player scoring in double figures with 11.8 points per game and also chips in with 7.2 rebounds per game. Jordan Mellinger is the final player averaging in double figures with 10.9 points per contest. 

Williams had a game-high 25 points in the Feb. 12 win over SUNY Polytechnic as he was 9-of-16 from the floor, including 5-of-10 from beyond the arc. Keltner had 17 points and six boards, while sophomore Herbie Brown had 10 points, three assists and three rebounds. Lancaster Bible trailed 14-3 early in the Feb. 12 contest, but used a 46-15 run over the final 16:01 of the first half to lead 49-29 at the break.

The other men's semifinal features NEAC North Division Champion Morrisville State and NEAC South Division runner-up Gallaudet. Gallaudet won the only meeting between the two teams this season as the Bison scored an 87-80 victory on their home floor on Feb. 1.

Saturday's semifinal winners will meet in the NEAC Final on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

Women's Basketball Preview
Morrisville State (19-7, 14-4 NEAC) at Lancaster Bible (22-3, 19-1 NEAC), 6 p.m.
2015-16 Result: Morrisville State 77, Lancaster Bible 70 (OT)

Lancaster Bible's only conference loss came at the hands of the Mustangs as Morrisville State earned a 77-70 overtime victory on its home floor on Jan. 16. Morrisville State is led by Jordan Anderson's 15.5 points and 5.0 assists per game, while Caitlyn Adams pulls down 8.2 rebounds per contest. Morrisville State advanced to the NEAC Semifinals thanks to its 70-60 win over Wells on Tuesday night in Morrisville, N.Y. 

Sophomore Haley Kilmartin had 30 points in Morrisville State's 77-70 win on Jan. 16 as she was 8-fo-16 from the floor and 13-of-14 from the free throw line. Anderson added 27 points and eight assists as she was 15-of-17 from the free throw line. Kilmartin and Anderson were the only two Mustang players to shoot free throws as they combined to go 28-of-31 from the charity stripe. 

Lancaster Bible is paced by back-to-back NEAC Player of the Year Aubrey Folger who averages 22.6 points and 9.4 rebounds per game for the Chargers. Folger had 22 points and 12 rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting for the Chargers on Jan. 16, while fellow senior Katy Stover had 18 points. Shanice Smith had 14 points and 11 boards as well for the Chargers who shot just 42.4 percent in the overtime loss on Jan. 16.

Saturday night's second semifinal features NEAC North Division Champion SUNY Polytechnic (21-5, 17-1 NEAC) and NEAC South Division runner-up Gallaudet (15-11, 13-7 NEAC). SUNY Polytechnic won the only regular season game between the two teams as the Wildcats earned a 68-51 victory on Jan. 17.

The NEAC Women's Basketball Final is scheduled for Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
