2016 Conference Guidebook

In addition to St. Thomas' national championship run, MIAC teams posted the third-best non-conference record last season.

Five years ago we published a new resource called the Conference Guidebook that shows the non-conference records and recent NCAA tournament results for the 43 conferences of Division III men's basketball.

The first edition was the culmination of three years of effort.  This edition was pulled together during the past offseason with a major assist from one of our message board mavens, "Hopefan."

He handled the most time-consuming part of this process by calculating the non-conference records, eliminating countless hours of very manual work and allowing us to release the Guidebook about six months earlier than usual. We are very grateful to him.

The Conference Comparison section shows how the conferences stack up against each other.

We've also streamlined the Guidebook since a lot of information is now available on other parts of our site. For each conference you'll still find an introductory page that lists the members of each conference, each member's most recent championship in that conference and each member's record in the Division III NCAA tournament. Then we list the NCAA tournament results for teams from each conference for the last 10 seasons.

Pulling this together involved a lot of data collection and data entry over several years. There is some information we couldn't locate, usually marked with highlighted blanks. And there are undoubtedly some errors or omissions. When you find errors or if you have missing information, please let us know by email at gordon.mann@d3sports.com.
