The first time Gordon heard about D3hoops.com he thought it was a joke.

He was hosting the halftime studio show at WRTC 89.3 FM in Hartford, Connecticut as his beloved Trinity Bantams battled Hamilton in the Sweet 16 round of the 1999 Division III men's basketball tournament. When someone called the studio to ask the score of the game -- instead of calling to complain that the broadcast pre-empted the very popular reggae show -- Gordon asked who the caller was.

"I'm Pat Coleman calling from D3hoops.com."

D3hoops-dot-what?

"There's an internet site devoted to covering Division III basketball? Get out of here!"

Indeed there is, and Gordon fell in love with it after visiting the site a couple hours after Trinity finished off the Continentals. He first got involved as a somewhat rambunctuous message board poster called the "Clamorin' Cluck," then as a student broadcaster and then as a broadcaster and writer for different sites in the D3sports.com family.

He has been a part of D3hoops.com since 2000 and attended all but one of the last 17 women's championship games -- he watched the men's title game instead in 2012. He oversees site content, administers the Top 25 polls and writes various pieces for the site.

Aside from Trinity, he has had the privilege to be the radio voice for two other programs -- Cortland State (2000-2004) and Delaware Valley football (2004-present) -- and worked with Wilkes University football for a couple seasons in between. He has even broadcasted games from Hamilton, years after fielding that phone call in 1999.

Gordon lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia with his wife, Sabrina, daughter Eliana and son Gideon. To put it differently, he lives equidistant from D3 programs Neumann, Widener and Swarthmore.
