George Fox roared out to a 24-9 run in the first quarter and the No. 9 Bruins were able to hold off the No. 2 Scranton Lady Royals, winning 54-44. The Bruins (7-1) started and ended the opening period with 12-3 runs, sandwiched around an Emily Sheehan 3-pointer.

Scranton (10-1) cut the lead to five several times, and got as close as four, 46-42, with 6:14 remaining, but only scored two more points the rest of the way. Both teams struggled shooting from the floor as the Lady Royals shot 30.4% (17-of-56) and made three 3-pointers, while George Fox shot at a 33.3% clip from both the floor and three-point range. Haley Strowbridge scored a game-high 17 points on 6-for-12 shooting and added a game-best nine rebounds as well.

Outscoring the Bulldogs 45-20 in the second half, including a 28-point third quarter, the No. 6 Amherst women's basketball team erased a four-point halftime deficit to power past No. 10 DeSales 73-52.

Holding DeSales to nine points while sending seven jumpers and a free throw through the nylon to take a 15-9 lead after 15 minutes of action, a 23-point effort by the Bulldogs (7-2) gave the home team a 32-28 edge at intermission before the Mammoths came roaring back in the second half – retaking a lead they did not relinquish with 8:04 on the clock in the third. The Mammoths (5-1) outscored the Bulldogs 28-12 in the third and 17-8 in the fourth.

In Saturday's men's action, Marcus Dempsey played all 40 minutes and poured in 35 points, the fifth-most by a men's basketball player in D3hoops.com Classic history, as Muskingum defeated Ramapo 91-82. Dempsey shot 10-for-17 from the floor, 4-for-8 from 3-point range and 11-for-13 from the line, finishing one assist short of a triple-double.

The Roadrunners opened up the game on a 10-0 run before Dempsey and Jordan Zagadou traded baskets with 15:05 on the clock as Ramapo led 12-2. From that point, Muskingum (6-4) embarked on a 33-13 surge that gave the Muskies a double-digit lead.

Ramapo (4-7) went on a 12-1 run early in the second half, punctuated by an Andre Morgan dunk, to cut the lead to three with 13:08 left, and the Roadrunners got one point close a couple of possessions later, but Muskingum was able to put the game away. Trey Singleton added 28 points for the Muskies. Jason Battle led Ramapo with 19 points and four assists.

Seven players hit 3-pointers for New Jersey City, led by Sam Toney, who went 5-for-10 from downtown en route to 19 points, and 15 points and 13 rebounds from Jaimik Moore as the Gothic Knights defeated Central 86-62 in their first game at the D3hoops.com Classic. After the game was tied at 38-38 at the half, NJCU (5-6) opened the second half on a 25-4 run. The Gothic Knights shot 59 percent from the floor in the second half, while limiting Central to 24 percent.
